In 2011, Rapinoe took part in games with Sydney Football Club FC of the Australian W-League before returning to the United States. Her new club is the Seattle Washington Sounders Women. Rapinoe has scored two goals for the United States in the 4-3 victory over Australia in the Olympic bronze medal game at Tokyo in 2020 because of the COVID-19 virus which Japan was forced to postpone to 2021 due to the effects of this pandemic, also took home the gold medal in Tokyo in 2016.
